Qantas & Jetstar Airlines
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet conse ctetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore.
Qantas & Jetstar Airlines
New data from the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) shows Qantas and Jetstar beat out both their respective major domestic competitors to deliver the best on-time departures and arrivals for the month of August.
Taking out both first and second position on the major domestic airline leader board, Qantas Group management put the impressive month’s work down to their team’s dedication to serving customers.
Qantas Domestic Chief Executive Officer Lyell Strambi said Qantas was committed to being the most reliable and punctual airline for the over 300,000 customers that fly with the airline each week.
“When you’re travelling as often as some of our customers, we know your time is precious. Our staff work hard to make sure our customers meet their deadlines, make their meetings and get home to their families,” said Mr Strambi.
“We have been the most on-time major domestic airline for five years in a row, and that’s because all our employees are focused on safety, reliability and punctuality.
Qantas mainline proved to be the most reliable major domestic airline with three times less cancellations than its direct competitor overall.
On key east-west routes, (Sydney-Perth, Melbourne-Perth and Brisbane-Perth routes) Qantas achieved a result of 84.7 per cent in departure performance and 87.5 per cent in arrival performance compared to its competitor 76.9 per cent and 82.6 per cent.
Qantas also had the strongest combined punctuality recorded on competitive east coast services between Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane – one of the busiest air corridors in the world.
Jetstar has continued to steadily improve its on time performance and finished August as the second most dependable of all the major domestic airlines.
Jetstar Australia and New Zealand CEO David Hall said he was pleased that more than 80 percent of its flights took off as scheduled in every month of 2014.
“We’ve worked hard to improve punctuality this year while still operating the tight schedule that is key to lower fares,” Mr Hall said.
“It’s fantastic to see more and more of our customers reaching their destination right on time.
“We’re proud to be the most punctual low fares carrier in Australia and during the past two months we’ve also beaten the second largest premium carrier for both on time departures and arrivals.
“Everyone at Jetstar is focused on maintaining this improved performance as we know punctuality is one of the most important drivers of customer satisfaction.”
For the eight months ended August 2014, Jetstar has dispatched 83 per cent of flights on time compared with its low fares competitor’s 76.5 per cent.
Domestically, for August 2014, the Qantas Group (Qantas, QantasLink and Jetstar) averaged a departure record of 85.5 per cent and an arrival record of 84.4 per cent, with its competitor airline group recording 80.9 per cent and 80.4 per cent respectively. The Qantas Group also recorded fewer cancellations.
Qantas Domestic recorded 87 per cent in on time departures and 85.9 per cent in arrivals with Jetstar recording 82.3 per cent in on time departures and 83.8 per cent in arrivals.

Lexus Sells 15,000TH RX
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet conse ctetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore.
Lexus Sells 15,000TH RX
Launched in Australia in 2003, RX 330 was the first vehicle in Australia to offer reversing cameras as standard. In 2006, the RX line also introduced the SUV world to hybrid technology with RX 400h - a vehicle which remains the world's only luxury hybrid SUV. The RX is also the only luxury SUV to receive four consecutive Australian Best Car awards from the Australian Automobile Association. Lexus Australia chief executive John Roca said the milestone confirmed the ongoing popularity of the RX model in Australia. "It's quite appropriate that this milestone was achieved just as we launched all-new RX 350," he said. "The RX, in 330, 350 and hybrid variants, has been one of our most popular models - making up a third of our local sales. "All-new RX 350 will again set a category benchmark: it is more powerful, more efficient, more comfortable, safer and overall a more enjoyable vehicle to drive," Mr Roca said. The new RX 350 models are equipped with Lexus' 3.5-litre quad-cam V6 engine which produces 204kW of power, 346Nm of torque and delivers exceptional fuel economy of 10.8 litres per 100km*.

New Leading Lexus Hybrid
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet conse ctetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore.
New Leading Lexus Hybrid
RX 450h AT A GLANCE*:
The RX 450h shares its predecessor's series/parallel hybrid drivetrain configuration, employing a highly efficient, 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine and two powerful electric motors working in tandem to provide an intelligent electric four-wheel drive capability.
However, comprehensive enhancements to every aspect of the new crossover's Lexus Hybrid Drive system have effected a 10% increase in engine power, a 23% reduction in fuel consumption* to just 6.3L/100km, and remarkably low CO2 emissions of just 148g/km.
The RX 450h's emissions figures are significantly lower than any other competitor model in the premium crossover class, including the best- performing diesels. It will also outperform the great majority of all conventional models throughout the SUV/crossover segment.
The new RX 450h combines the powerful, aerodynamic road presence of a pioneering crossover with the most compact possible packaging. Reflecting a further, significant evolution of the Lexus L-finesse design philosophy, it brings together the two seemingly contradictory ideas of a 'robust, muscular stance' and 'elegance and intelligence'.
On board, an all-new Crossover Cockpit design showcases numerous advanced features such as a Head-Up Display, a steering wheel-mounted multi-information switch and Lexus Remote Touch - a multi-function device which operates on the same principles as a computer mouse to offer simple, intuitive control over the new crossover’s audio, navigation, climate, phone and vehicle set-up systems.
Combining class-leading body strength with advanced safety innovations and driver support systems, the new RX 450h sets standards for active, passive and preventive safety.
The new crossover features Lexus' unique Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system, a Pre-Crash Safety system which sets a new benchmark for anticipatory safety, active headrests and ten airbags, including an award winning, dual stage, twin-chamber front passenger airbag.
*Preliminary fuel and emissions figures based on European cycle, final Australian fuel and C02 figures may vary slightly.

Lexus Hybrid SUV
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet conse ctetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore.
Lexus Hybrid SUV
The second-generation of hybrid RX, the RX 450h, will be powered by a larger, all-new V6 3.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, along with Lexus' unique hybrid drive system, producing a combined power output of220kW.
The all-new RX 450h power train boosts power by 20kW over the vehicle it replaces, while significant torque increases have also resulted from the new petrol/electric hybrid system.
RX 450h's power increase is achieved while reaping an estimated fuel economy improvement of 8 to 12 per cent* over the previous RX 400h.
The economy savings will see RX 450h achieve fuel figures closer to that of the average four-cylinder family sedan, while delivering the power of a larger capacity engine.
Lexus Australia Chief Executive John Roca said that all-new RX 450h signals the beginning of a new era for the SUV:
“RX 400h set in place the hybrid movement, and RX 450h will solidify the inevitable shift towards a hybrid future.
“RX 450h is a representation of Lexus' constant pursuit of perfection, with engineers finding ways to improve the efficiency in virtually every aspect of the hybrid system. RX 450h also demonstrates Lexus' commitment to hybrid technology. Now in its second generation it remains the only luxury hybrid available anywhere in the world," continued Roca.
"Lexus is firmly behind hybrid technology and while others continue to discuss the introduction of the technology, we are out there offering real solutions for tomorrow, today,” added Roca.
RX 450h will arrive in Australian showrooms mid-2009. *Fuel savings based on preliminary estimates

Lexus Launches New RX
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet conse ctetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore.
Lexus Launches New RX
From its exterior design, to interior features, the all-new RX has been designed with efficiency, safety and comfort top of mind.
The exterior design delivers a very low 0.33 coefficient of drag that, when combined with the all-new six speed gearbox, AWD system and improved engine, delivers a seven per cent improvement in fuel efficiency.
Further efficiencies in the climate control, electrical systems, interior packaging and body construction added to the improved efficiency of the new model.
All efficiency improvements were made without sacrificing occupant comfort and safety.
The RX will feature a raft of new interior functions, headlined by the new Lexus Remote Touch navigation system.
Located on the centre console, the Lexus Remote Touch system is intuitive and reduces occupant eye movement away from the road by up to 30 per cent, while also increasing navigation screen visibility.
RX 350 will gain the most powerful and efficient climate control system to date in an RX model, offering a greater range of cooling and heating capacity than ever before.
Safety was also paramount for all-new RX, so the new model features a reversing camera, wide-view side camera*, parking sensors*, a pre-crash safety system* and an all-new VDIM system, meaning the RX continues to lead on safety.
Lexus Chief Executive John Roca said that the RX is one of Lexus' most identifiable and important models:
"The Lexus RX has been, and continues to be, a pioneer. It is effectively responsible for establishing the luxury SUV vehicle segment. The RX is one of the most important vehicles in Lexus' line-up and as such it is a rolling demonstration of our continued pursuit of perfection," said Roca.
"The RX has been completely redesigned with an attention to detail that pushed for efficiency, comfort and safety every step of the way. In fact, the RX is the closest we've been to perfection, but we all know that reaching perfection isn't the aim - its constantly searching for and delivering better ways of doing things that sets Lexus and the RX apart," added Roca.
* Available on selected models.

Knowledge to Taxis

Knowledge to Taxis
Ms Kosky said as part of the plan all new applicants for licences to drive taxis would need to pass a Knowledge of Melbourne Test in addition to existing accreditation requirements.
The newly accredited course will also include stronger literacy requirements and conflict resolution training and is the next step in the Government's commitment to improve Melbourne's taxi services.
"Taxis are an integral part of Victoria's transport network and we believe these tests will increase driver knowledge and confidence, which in turn will mean a more comfortable and enjoyable journey for passengers," Ms Kosky said.
"Improving literacy standards will result in better communication between new drivers and their passengers, particularly international tourists."
As part of the Knowledge of Melbourne test, new taxi driver applicants must correctly identify 40 locations out of 45, randomly selected from a list of 100 major Melbourne landmarks including theatres, sporting venues, hospitals and shopping centres.
The literacy components of the new course must be passed by each new driver. Drivers will have to pass the landmarks test without the use of a street directory.
Taxi drivers will also receive training in conflict resolution to help them handle and prevent verbal or physical assaults. Drivers will learn how to manage other issues including road rage from other drivers, fare evasion and intimidation.
Ms Kosky said the Brumby Government had worked closely with the taxi industry to develop the new course.
The Knowledge of Melbourne Test will be progressively rolled out to registered training organisations who are accredited by the Victorian Taxi Directorate to train new drivers from now to July.
"There are more than 45 million taxi passenger trips each year and it's important that the journey is safe and comfortable for both the passenger and driver," she added.
"Taxi drivers provide a valuable community service helping Victorians to travel safely and we hope the course will give drivers the tools to handle aggressive or abusive passengers. This new course forms part of the Victorian Taxi Safety Strategy announced last year and reaffirms the Brumby's Government's commitment to improving the state's taxi services."
